Position Overview:
As an Electrical Power Engineer with a focus on Umspannwerk Primärtechnik, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of primary components in high- and medium-voltage substations. Your expertise in primary technology will support the integrity and safety of power distribution networks through comprehensive system planning, testing, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop and engineer primary high-voltage and medium-voltage systems, including switchgear, transformers, busbars, and disconnectors, aligning with industry standards and project specifications.
- Specification and Procurement: Prepare detailed technical specifications for equipment and components, collaborating with suppliers and vendors to ensure technical compliance and quality.
- Load and Fault Analysis: Conduct load flow, fault current, and thermal studies to optimize primary system performance and reliability.
- Compliance and Standardization: Ensure adherence to national and international standards (IEC, VDE, IEEE) as well as regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in all primary technology designs.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate with secondary engineering, project management, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration and project delivery.
- Testing and Commissioning: Support factory and site acceptance tests (FAT and SAT) for primary components, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks in primary technology installations and develop mitigation plans to secure project and operational continuity.
- Documentation and Reporting: Produce comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, test protocols, and technical reports, for record-keeping and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering focused on primary technology in substations, including design, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of power system analysis tools and CAD software, with experience in tools like ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and primary substation equipment and systems.
- In-depth understanding of IEC, VDE, and IEEE standards applicable to primary substation technology.
- Experience managing project timelines and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or technical certifications in high-voltage systems.
- Proficiency in both German and English for effective technical documentation and communication.
- Knowledge of renewable energy sources and their integration into high-voltage networks is a plus.
