We are seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in Secondary Technology (Sekundärtechnik) for substations (Umspannwerke) to oversee and lead our high-impact projects.

Position Overview:

As a Project Manager with expertise in Umspannwerk Sekundärtechnik, you will manage the complete lifecycle of secondary engineering projects in substation environments, from planning and design to testing and commissioning. This role demands a deep understanding of protection, control, and automation systems as well as the ability to coordinate across technical and managerial disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage multiple substation secondary technology projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and specifications.
  • Technical Design and Review: Oversee the engineering design process for protection, control, and automation systems, ensuring compliance with national and international standards (IEC, VDE, IEEE).
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate project updates, technical clarifications, and solution-oriented dialogue.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, optimizing allocation to meet project goals efficiently.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies, maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all installations meet F.Y.K. Group’s quality standards, with responsibilities spanning documentation, on-site inspections, and quality testing.
  • Testing and Commissioning Support: Collaborate with testing teams to oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT), as well as the commissioning of secondary systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present detailed technical reports, including project progress, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance, for internal and client review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in secondary technology (Sekundärtechnik) for high- and medium-voltage substations, with proven project management experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge in protection, control, and SCADA systems used in substations.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and technical software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (IEC, VDE, IEEE) and safety requirements in secondary engineering for substations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with experience managing interdisciplinary teams and contractors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or related technical certifications.
  • Proficiency in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and their integration into substation control and protection systems is a plus.
